Jonathan’s Kitchen Menu Just Got An Amazing Makeover

Think of good places to eat around Gachibowli and Jonathan’s Kitchen would pop-up for sure. Super famous for their Drunches and Brunches, this place has been doling out good food for a long long time. Having delivered on their existing menu, they are now taking it a notch higher by bringing in some hitherto unheard stuff to the Hyderabadi Food Scene. Case and point, the Burrata and the Ossobuco (more on these dishes later).

New Menu at Jonathan’s Kitchen

Crazy brainstorming sessions, food discussions, hits and misses, trial runs, sourcing issues and efforts by the whole team have brought out this beautiful set of new offerings. More like a revamp of the existing set-up, the new dishes had a lot at stake, given the well-established stature of the old menu.

Trust Jonathan’s Kitchen team to blow you away by their skills and talent! With Raashid bhai running the whole show, you know that everything is going to be in order and served with a lot of panache. What was heartening to see it that after every dish he would come around checking for the feedback. Interesting encounters, explaining in detail about the thought behind adding it and the quality of the ingredients used also followed.

Jonathan’s Kitchen Menu – The Appetizers

One look at the menu and we knew it was going to be a long night. Just going through the options, we had a lot of “ooohh” and “aaahh” around the table. This was more like a war cry before entering the battle!

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Dumplings with Ginger Scallion Sauce

The session kicked-off with the light Dumplings with Ginger Scallion Sauce. Both the Veg and Chicken versions were cooked well and well stuffed too. The sauce on the side providing that zing that dumplings usually miss.

Jhinga Khadi Mirch

Getting more serious on the heat, in came the Jhinga Khadi Mirch. The name was a warning that things were about to get spicy. The chilli kicks in almost instantly but doesn’t burn, which shows the quality of mirch used. The onions in the mix came as a soothing sider.

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Murgh Ke Parchey

The Murgh Ke Parchey and Peshawari Chapli Kebab took a turn towards the flavourful road. Here the spices were more soothing and the dishes were more about the Nazaakat aur Swaad. The Parchey has a very nice cardamom flavour which complements the beaten-soft chicken. Chapli makes an entrance in Hyderabadi food scene and will surely linger on.

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Tandoori Quail

Usually, when a menu has quail, I give it a miss because there’s hardly any meat in there. But the Tandoori Quail here looks more like a bater that was working out regularly in the gym. Plenty of meat on this one, and for the first time I could actually taste the bird and not just the bones. A definite favorite from the appetizer list.

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Grilled Pomfret

You don’t usually see good fish coming to Hyderabad tables, but Jonathan’s Kitchen made it pretty clear how strong is their sourcing game. The Grilled Pomfret looked a million bucks and that charred look added to the beautiful rustic color. A little lemon juice on top and this takes you right back to the coastal shacks.

Sushi at Jonathan’s Kitchen Hyderabad – Sushi is the ‘In Thing’

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Sushi

The Chef has gone ahead with 5 types of Sushi here, trying to keep it simple and still showcase multiple flavours. Crispy Veg Uramaki, Spring Vegetable Tamagoyaki, Teriyaki, Salmon Uramaki and Tuna Nigiri. I am still trying to understand the whole concept and textures when it comes to Sushi, and I still have a long way to go.

But here the Crispy Veg Uramaki with the sweet-sour-tangy combo stood out for me. The Teriyaki was pretty interesting too.

Jonathan’s Kitchen New Menu Star Dish – The Creamy Burrata

Jonathan’s Kitchen
The Creamy Burrata

Salads are used to lighten things up and slow down the carnage. But The Creamy Burrata isn’t your usual salad, it’s more like a salad gone wild. It’s rich, loaded and super delicious. Burrata takes cheese to the next level with an outer shell of solid mozzarella, and, Stracciatella (cheese produced from Italian buffalo milk) and cream on the inside. Just dig in and attain the cheesy-Nirvana.

Hand-Made Pasta at Jonathan’s Kitchen –

Pasta is one of the most simple dishes that’s more like a soul-food in Italy. You need a good pasta, fresh ingredients and balanced flavours. At Jonathan’s Kitchen, the team makes their Pasta fresh every day and it’s all hand-made.

Pasta

They are doing 3 types of Pasta – Ravioli, with Spinach and Corn in a tomato base. The Agnolotti is stuffed with Ricotta and Mushrooms in a garlic cream base. Gnocci With Prawns combines some potato Gnocci with marinated prawns in a mixed base of pesto and tomato. All 3 felt fresh and light, but the Agnolotti stole the show with the stuffing and overall richness.

Continental Fare at Jonathan’s Kitchen –

In a list of Best Places to Eat in Hyderabad for Continental Food, Jonathan’s Kitchen would easily be on it. They haven’t given in to the urge of localizing their fare to suit the local taste buds and keep the authenticity intact.

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Grilled Sea Murrel

The Grilled Sea Murrel looks like art on the plate. All the side vegetables placed aesthetically, carrot puree providing the creaminess and the garlic cream wrapped with veggies. Some interesting trivia here is that Murrel is also the State Fish of Telangana.

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Filet Mignon

You read Filet Mignon on a menu and then just begin to imagine a fairy-tale around this dish. The name brings a huge smile on every meat lover’s face. If cooked right with a good cut of meat, then there’s no looking back. The cut of meat carries forward the brilliant sourcing plan with high-quality meat on offer. Cooked to a perfect medium-rare, the juices flow with every bite. I would go back again and again for this one!

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Ossobuco Alla Milanese

The most interesting dish on the menu had to be the Ossobuco Alla Milanese. Rest assured that you have never seen this one in Hyderabad. This Veal Shank dish with the wine sauce has the tenderest meat ever. The presentation is what makes it a stand out dish.

Jonathan’s Kitchen Menu With Dessert Options –

Their cheesecake is already legendary and now we have 2 new additions.

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Tres Leches

I am usually a staunch supporter of not playing around with recipes. So when the read that the Tres Leches here came with a red velvet cake, I had my doubts. But the doubts went out of the window as soon as it landed on the table. It looked so perfect that I had to think twice before cutting it open.

Jonathan’s Kitchen
Ghevar with Rabri

After all this onslaught one thing that really made it all end well was the Ghevar With Rabri. A light and crispy ghevar topped with rich rabri can set almost anything right.

We all did survive this fight and came out smiling with content. Hats off to Chef Vijay Bhasker Reddy and Chef Mohan Kunwar for doing an amazing job on getting this menu done. And with this menu in place, Jonathan’s Kitchen shall continue to be a favourite and also lure in new people who seek the steaks and hand-made pasta.
